Matt. 6: 9-13: 9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Yesterday we sought to fall into the holiness of God, seeking to come to a place of being in awe of him again. The clearer we see God, the greater we realize Him to be. The greater we realize him to be, the easier it is to trust His will for our lives. This brings us to today’s focus: “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
This is about asking God’s plan and purposes to come to fruition in us and the world we live in. Many are willing to pray for God’s will to be done in the world, but want to overlook God’s will being done in their own lives. But, it’s insanity to pray for God’s will for the world, but not be submitted to His will with our very lives. In this prayer Jesus models for us that before any needs are laid out, we should have a heart that says, “Let your will be done in my life.”
Are you in that place? Are you ready to pray for God’s will to be done in your life? If so, God’s purposes will be done in you as it is in heaven.
Take some time now to let God walk the halls of your life, allowing him to visit each room of your life. Picture yourself giving him the keys to each room. Think through each area of your life: family, relationships, work, thought life, finances, etc. Is there an area in your life that you need to say, “Your will be done”?
