I recently heard the statistic that only 8% of people follow through on their new year’s resolutions. 8%!!!???
How could 92% of people that set new year’s goals not follow through?
I can tell you, because I’ve been part of the disappointed masses.
A few years ago when a friend kept pressing me about one of my goals, I finally threw out the excuse, “I just don’t have enough time.” He rolled his eyes and I knew what he knew…..that’s a lie.
All of us have the same amount of time to work with. No one: rich, poor, young, old; have more hours in the day than the other.
The fact is we DO have time. We just choose to spend our time on other things. Take a moment and think about what you do with your free time. Any time you spend: on Facebook, looking at your phone, watching television, binging on Netflix, surfing the net, reading, going to concerts/sporting events, hanging out with friends, even reading this blog; is time that could be spent for that thing.
Every time you say “yes” to distractions, you’re saying “no” to what really matters.
That would be easier to swallow if our time was an endless resource, but as followers of Christ we know we don’t have that luxury. Here’s a reminder:
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
