My greatest concern as you read this post is that it will end up adding to the problem. Yet, I’m willing to risk it in the hope that this truth might take hold in you and I.
We are a restless people. Hustling, talking, scanning, surfing, watching, talking, working….working our way into a lather and we do it all with not much to show for it. While I’m a big proponent of living a lifestyle of praying without ceasing, my biggest flaw in my prayer life is my inability to be still….to hit the mute button on life.
There’s a reason that Jesus would go off alone to pray. Solitude is a necessity if we’re to have communion with God that’s without distraction.
To get there we’re going to have to get intentional: shut the door, turn the electronic thing that has our attention off, go on a walk….whatever it takes.
Here’s the verse I want us to fall into today:
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will
be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
Be still. Know and remember He is God. Take some time to pray without speaking. Just be still and rest in the truth of who God is.
I’m resting with you.
