Matt. 6: 9-13:
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Jesus makes what seems like a simple statement in this prayer: “Give us this day, our daily bread.” A simple prayer for God to provide. It would be easy for us to move over this line too quickly, because we walk in such blessing of full refrigerators and over flowing pantries. Most of us, if we’re honest, aren’t having to pray daily for our daily needs to be met.
Jesus’ prayer also implies that this prayer is to be prayed daily, not just when a need crops up.
Our “daily bread” is any need we have on any given day. So my question for you is this: what is your daily bread today? What need do you have today that you readily recognize you need God to provide for you?
Take some time to share your needs with your heavenly dad. You can trust him with your needs because he loves you and he’s always faithful.
