No More Christian Nice Guy

Are you a nice person? Would others consider you nice? I continue to see people that confuse the whole idea of Christian living as being nice. There are NO commandment in scripture to be nice. As Christians we are called to walk in love, integrity, service and humility, But we are never told we must be nice.

Nice [nahys] -adjective : 1. pleasing, agreeable; delightful. 2. amiably pleasant

I grew up being told to be “nice” my entire childhood. This left me at times not being who God had me to be as well as just caving under any external pressure I might have run into. In Paul Coughlin’s book, No More Christian Nice Guy, I was reminded that we are not called to be “agreeable” all the time. He also notes the damage that “niceness” causes in relationships, families and in the Christian Church. Jesus Christ himself came not to be “nice”, but to bring change. Scripture says that the Christian faith is an offence to unbelievers. If it’s not, something’s wrong.

Now for those of you that struggle with balanced nuance, let me also say that you’re not called by Jesus to be a jerk! That is not what this is about. It’s about living out the Christian faith in a authentic fashion without being a pansy in the process. I highly recommend this book!

  1. Thanks for your post. One other thing is when you are marketing your property on your own, one of the difficulties you need to be mindful of upfront is how to deal with home inspection reviews. As a FSBO seller, the key towards successfully moving your property and also saving money about real estate agent revenue is awareness. The more you know, the better your home sales effort are going to be. One area in which this is particularly vital is reports.

  3. Thanks for the something totally new you have discovered in your post. One thing I’d really like to reply to is that FSBO associations are built as time passes. By introducing yourself to owners the first weekend break their FSBO can be announced, prior to masses get started calling on Friday, you make a good interconnection. By giving them tools, educational materials, free accounts, and forms, you become an ally. Through a personal curiosity about them along with their scenario, you produce a solid network that, most of the time, pays off if the owners opt with a representative they know and trust — preferably you.
