Need God’s Direction?

I would venture to guess that one of the most often prayers prayed as a follower of Jesus is that of asking God for direction.

Should I go left or right, what career path, marry this person, stay or leave, buy or sell, speak up or stay quiet, here or there……etc.

At times this can build to a fever pitch where we end up crying out to God: “Speak to me! I’m not asking for a neon sign here, throw me bone!”

We’ve all been there.

The great news is that God’s been proactive in this area of leading us. He’s given us his scripture to give us general oversight for how to live and the values by which we should make our decisions. He’s given us wise people around us to glean counsel from. He’s also given us His Spirit to lead us, but this can only come by prayer.

Whether you’re facing a crossroads in your life now or you just know that day is coming, here are some scripture so meditate on and pray through as you seek the Lord’s direction for your life.

Need God's Direction

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

James 1:5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Take some time trust God with your cirumstances. Ask yourself if you’re leaning on your own intellect and preferences. Ask God to make this plain to you. Acknowledge God as the leader of your life in your present and future circumstances.

Ask God for wisdom. Thank Him that He’s a good father and loves to give this life leading gift to you. Embrace  his wisdom through scripture, Godly mentors, and prayer.

I’m praying with you.
